Inner Silence The Psychology and Spirituality weekly talks are based on the works by Joanna de Angelis and offer a safe space to confront, compare, correlate, and expand spirituality concepts from a psychological lens bringing insights, actionable tips, and real-world advice to help you lead a better life. Anne Sinclair and Marcia Trajano discuss what is required to reach the state of Inner Silence. According to Joanna de Angelis, Inner Silence is made of peace and fulfillment, when we are able to understand the meaning of our lives and the impact of our behaviors in relation to everyone else. We look forward to this conversation which focused on how Inner Silence directly impacts mental and emotional health. foreign welcome to psychology and spirituality a bridge to a better life discussion I'm your host Marcia georgiano and with me today is a very very special guest a good friend Ann Sinclair Ann is known as the really important part of the work that diwalto Pereira Franco does As an interpreter from Portuguese into English she is also has a key role in the spiritus family group in the UK thank you so much all of you who is joining in this conversation between me and Anne um just if you want to to know more about this program psychology and spirituality please go ahead and subscribe if you haven't done so and more information in other channels go to www.spiritus.us the psychology in spirituality program has been brought to you by Ami Brazil the United States spiritus Federation and the international spiritist Council and if you want to know more about the subject we're going to be talking today we highly recommend you read this book let me bring that to you it's called the conscious being it was written by Joanna DeAngelis uh in collaboration with devaldo Pere Franco and specifically chapter 8 it talks about inner peace but let me get back to to you and because we are here to talk and it's so so good to have you with me when we tackle this really interesting subject inner silence right what is required to get to that state of inner silence well according to Joanna DeAngelis in in any many of her books she she discusses inner silence as what you attain When You Reach a place of peace and fulfillment when we're able to understand perhaps the meaning of our lives so this is pretty big right and also the impact of what we do what we think what we don't do our behaviors our thoughts in relation to the context that we live in so I'm really really excited to to to talk to you and and I wanted to say first of all what can you understand as this inner silence what is it can we talk a little bit about it yes thank you Marcia and it's a pleasure to be here with you all and firstly I

d I wanted to say first of all what can you understand as this inner silence what is it can we talk a little bit about it yes thank you Marcia and it's a pleasure to be here with you all and firstly I just want to say I am a novice in studying 200 Angeles as perhaps many of you might be as well if you encounter any difficulties do not despair just take a step back and take a sentence at a time and just allow yourself to reflect and see where your mind and your thoughts take you what uh sentences attract your attention what words jump out to you you're not supposed to know it all off by heart or just try to understand everything in one goal so this is like for me to learning about inner silence because Jonah starts the chapter by saying something quite quite topical and relevant he says we are always in a state of War on the planet there's always war going on somewhere and that is the same today as it was a thousand two thousand years ago and it says that that state of war that goes around in between countries or different ethnic groups or different groups of people for whatever reasons they're not not judging any reasons but that state of war is a reflection of our lack of inner peace because we are not peaceful beings we can't create a peaceful world so that if we want to have peace in the world we need to First find peace in ourselves she says if we live in a family of three or four people and we can't get armed how the country is going to get on so I love it because she gives us like a basic example and then you're going yeah because my sister or my brother annoys me or does things that frustrate me or they have opinions I don't agree with me because it's not making a whole list of things of why we don't get on with each other doesn't mean that we hate each other it means we don't get on and that is just that reflects into Society on the smaller level why jump to the level of country and Country so the way to find in a silence to make in a silence it requires us to go on a journey

on and that is just that reflects into Society on the smaller level why jump to the level of country and Country so the way to find in a silence to make in a silence it requires us to go on a journey inwards so when we are looking at others and telling others that it's because of them that we don't have peace in the home it's because of what they've done or not done and taken up the garbage or not or whatever it is that causes those those annoyances and things it's all on the outside but what she's inviting us is to travel inwards and in this inward journey is a journey of self-discovery of self-knowledge because the spirits of antiquity have already said that is the journey we need to do in order to be able to transform ourselves and to transform by by result uh by Consequence the world around us so in order for us to think about having inner silence the first thing we must is think about doing this in a journey so that we become familiar with our inner being because she makes almost like a parallel this is quite interesting uh of evolution and when you think about your life and I've passed middle age so I'm on the second stage of life if you like so some people describe it you're going up a mountain so you're young and you're developing you're growing you're getting a job you're getting your career you're getting a family you're achieving achieving achieving achieving until you get yourself middle age and you should be like full achievement of whatever it is that you're achieving on the outside and then you're coming down the mountain the other side and then you start going inwards so I've achieved all this on the outside but now what about what's going on inside me what is the meaning of all this what is the meaning of my life and then the the fact that now you're seeing the end of your life as coming closer even if it might be 20 30 years ago away it is coming closer and that confronting with your own mortality is saying well what's it all been about what have I

eing the end of your life as coming closer even if it might be 20 30 years ago away it is coming closer and that confronting with your own mortality is saying well what's it all been about what have I achieved what have I got and so you naturally begin to want to introspect and look at yourself inwards and share the knowledge and experience that you've acquired over the exterior part of life with others so which talks about um in us as Spirits as well she talks about us you know we all evolved we will all evolve nobody will be left behind we all take baby steps we all go as fast as we want but in the beginning we are like children like spiritual children so you think of a baby and a small child they have very sort of egocentric phases where they become the world and the world becomes them and that they want to conquer the world and as children want to conquer the world and then when we realize that Conquering the world does not bring us happiness then we say well we need to look at look inside so this inner silence is necessary for us to be able to really look inside ourselves because we are an unknown country inside ourselves unless we've done you know you're way ahead of me or things and it's sometimes things come up that you're like whoa where's this coming from things that might not be pleasant things that we might not be familiar with but we need to have that inner silence in order to be able to see this it's almost like if you think of the water of a lake or the sea if it is calm you can see down to the bottom you can see lots of things the fishes but if it's moving around it's all choppy you can't see into it so I kind of like to think in images this is kind of an image that kind of works for me so in the silence makes my inner Lake calm so I can see deeper in but it is necessary to have courage to look in as well because yeah and it's yeah sorry to interrupt you but I think this is a a key point right first of all it is a journey right from a from from the topic

is necessary to have courage to look in as well because yeah and it's yeah sorry to interrupt you but I think this is a a key point right first of all it is a journey right from a from from the topic uh perspective it is in a journey uh we can talk about let's quiet everybody else we will always have that conflict that that external um bombardment of ideas of uh new technology of a life that changes there's so much going coming at us but it's up to us to find a space right to almost to create the buffer between what comes at us you know what we withstand what we tolerate how we actually react in the the the it's not so much the what but how we react and we react with love with patience with embracing the other with all his or her own issues it's about uh this this sense of balance of quiet of Silence so I love the the title by the way the inner silence but something that you mentioned now with the water and it's an image that I I love it I love it thank you because if you think about it in that clear water if you just threw a pebble think about it right just a pebble and it will create all sorts of um ripples that can go on and on and on with just a little Pebble you were able to not only see inside the wall inside the lake what's what's below the surface but also the impact no matter what how small it is you can see it it um it uh disturbing if you will that calmness but let's think of the other scenario and if you have the choppy Waters and maybe even the ocean where's the waves and all of this you can you can send a boulder and you cannot see the ripples right so that's really important because when we talk about inner silence peace internal and external and we also talk about conflicts and the the the need for that inner Journey if we are intermoil with everything that goes on in our life we don't know the true meaning of Our Lives all that comes in it just adds to the turmoil versus our ability to calmly see yes this is happening let's let's see what is the impact inside of me love it

we don't know the true meaning of Our Lives all that comes in it just adds to the turmoil versus our ability to calmly see yes this is happening let's let's see what is the impact inside of me love it thank you so much for for that imagery thank you but also I mean if I just carry on like in in this chapter uh she mentions exactly what are the things that make the waters choppy if we use that image to take it yeah and saying like so the essence uh you have the essence of the substance she says so the essence is is the spirit that we are that Eternal being that has a journey but the substance is all the environment all the things that affect it so if you think about your own material life this Incarnation you are the person that you are today because lots of things you have your mom and your dad you have your genetics you have your body and you have all the experiences that happen to you growing up and forming relationships having jobs all that affected you in some way and some things you they echoed with things that had already happened to you before making it started to say well that's the truth of the world because this is what happens to me is how we build our knowledge and acquire that that way of knowing but because we've acquired it because we've gone through things on more than one occasion then we sort of take it as truth when sometimes it's not the truth but it is the result of those experiences and it's difficult for us to be able sometimes to see something different of this topic is is about where is the focus of our mind so there are lots of interesting things and there are some on YouTube I've probably mentioned them before because it's a subject interests me like you know when it's a crime they say witness witness statements are useless because everybody sees something different and everybody remembers something different and I was thinking about where is the focus of your mind for example I had an experience that maybe some people can relate to when I was first pregnant with

and everybody remembers something different and I was thinking about where is the focus of your mind for example I had an experience that maybe some people can relate to when I was first pregnant with my first child I decided I need to buy a pram I think they call them France in the US as well of buggies or strollers put your baby in so of course it's my first baby I don't have one of these I went to the big department store and they were so many I had not a clue how to choose which one I'm going to choose there's such variety so I went out I'll say oh I'm going to have to do some research to decide which one to choose and I was in the shopping center in the shopping mall and I sat down on the bench and I thought I started looking and all I could see were mums with the strollers with their babies going past everywhere and I said I come to this mall to the shopping center so many times I had never before seen a mum with a baby but now because this was my interest all I could see were mums and babies it's just so interesting it's just a simple daily life experience that I had but that it is it's the same for us spiritually and otherwise so if you what are you looking to see what are you seeking for if you go to a situation and you're seeking for the the bad things you will see the bad things but if you seek for the good things you will also see the good things because they're side by side everywhere is a mixture of both things this Earth of ours which is full of different variety of things that you can experience and see so when you start to awaken your Consciousness you start to be able to think okay maybe these things have been resonating this is my experience so far but let me look for something different let me Focus my attention on something different and see if I can see that and it's about the focus of what of where we're taking our attention Our intention and that can make a difference to break out from the molds because this is what Joanna says to us we get caught up in

and it's about the focus of what of where we're taking our attention Our intention and that can make a difference to break out from the molds because this is what Joanna says to us we get caught up in our own molds of the repetitions that then we make our reality out of and say oh the world's a bad place then you start really all you can see is all the bad stuff that happens in the world but you start saying that the world has bad things but it also has wonderful things and you start seeing the wonderful things yeah and that stock maybe for just a minute about this right the first thing that comes to my mind is the fact that um we are who we are right we we of course uh from a spiritism perspective spirituality perspective uh the the idea that we are an immortal a being right that you go from Life To Life Meaning you die your Corporal existence ends but you continue as a spirit in your reincarnate so you bring that baggage with you but overall this one lifetime it's really a reflection as you were saying and to a reflection of that uh that ecosystem if you will that environment the the the subculture of the family the subculture if you in a same subculture not as a below culture but it's a smaller portion of the larger culture um the the subculture of your family or of your neighborhood of your city or of your country if you're in the east or west so on so forth and what's so interesting as you said we somehow forget to question is this the truth is this the compass by which I I'm I'm saying this is my North is this the true north if you will morally speaking and I'm referring to morally as the Divine the the sacred that uh that infinite that unchanging laws that regulates all of us all of us Immortal beings are those uh really the the the the the the measure by which I'm referencing myself most likely just like you're you're witness statement that you mentioned most likely it we we we can't we are so immersed that we become blindsided to that larger that uh that uh the truth

cing myself most likely just like you're you're witness statement that you mentioned most likely it we we we can't we are so immersed that we become blindsided to that larger that uh that uh the truth that goes beyond our little pocket our our little subculture and it's very interesting for us uh it's okay right it's okay not to see the broad picture we are all evolving and growing two aspects of the same thing as as Immortal Spirits as Immortal beings and we are going to be there but just the conscience the awareness that uh our inner peace plays such a and I say in a piece but inner silence it's such a a key component for us to attaining our peace and be the peace be like Mahatma Gandhi said be the change that we want to see it is critical so uh love love your imagery uh and any in additional thoughts that you want to bring to us yeah well I was just thinking because um Joanna suggests that um it's almost let's say this this Cloud this environment that we bring with us that's all this noise it's outside always and that's constantly interfering in our thought process and it's part of of what happens to us when we try to set a good way to to reduce that she says using the tool of meditation yes now uh people there are people who are very experienced and advanced meditators not myself I'm working on it one of the things that when you you you can't go to meditate I'm gonna do three minutes just like do some breathing and just either Focus the mind on on whatever yeah it doesn't matter as long as it's just like bringing your mind to a focus just to try and start to develop this silence boom boom loads of things start coming into your mind you know you remember oh did I did I lock the car and and I need to go to the supermarket afterwards I need to get some more salt and then all these things that are completely not relevant to the moment start pouring in and then you get frustrated because oh my gosh I can't do this my mind is just so full of everyday stuff so say how do

all these things that are completely not relevant to the moment start pouring in and then you get frustrated because oh my gosh I can't do this my mind is just so full of everyday stuff so say how do we work with that and she uses the image that the orientals use of the mind being like like a like a monkey like a chimp jumping from brunch to Branch all over the place and our minds are like that sometimes let's say beyond the mind is is the higher self the spirit was eternal that and it's just for us to connect with that essential Eternal being that we are and just let things off the earth and the body just put aside for a moment and just by making that silence being able to reconnect with ourselves so I said when things start popping up first there will be the the wealthy things just say interesting and just like take it to the side and release don't be angry with it don't be frustrated just okay just like you can go then other things will start to come up from the unconscious mind and these are things that we have repressed then suddenly they might start coming up and then we might not like them because they might be let's say I might have feelings I don't know of jealousy or greed or something which I think I should I shouldn't have so I repress it and pretend I don't have it instead of letting it come up and say look yeah this is me I have thoughts of jealousy where's that coming from why do I feel insecure in this way or what you know this is the result of something it's not that I'm bad this is the result of some evolutionary process in which this developed as a defense mechanism of some type so just in you say you become interested what comes up rather than judgmental and you start to come in contact with things that you have that were unknown to you and at the same time also because the the spirits tell us and Joanna tells us we can have the interference of thoughts from other people incarnate or to scanate because this could be some telepathies but we can also have people in the

the the spirits tell us and Joanna tells us we can have the interference of thoughts from other people incarnate or to scanate because this could be some telepathies but we can also have people in the spirit as well who either might like us very much and are very close to us and want to influences or people who don't like us very much and want to disturb us still it's it's like all these radio waves you know with going into our mind and we connect where we connect with things that have make resonate with us in some way even if we wouldn't like to admit it but there is something there that makes that connection makes further noise so the inner silence it's not a day project this is a project that's going to take time but like everything you need to exercise in order to develop the the skill and then it becomes second nature to you but if you don't start and you just start developing and getting to know yourself and what are the noises that are coming up then that's not going to happen anytime soon so it's just a question of when people feel that they're ready and they want to to give it a go um you know everybody can do this at home and create their own discipline but you know I think the important thing that Joanna says to us is like we shouldn't give up when we Face the first obstacles it says the conquest of the outer world she said are easy compared to the conquest of the inner World which is quite interesting because quite a lot of us might think that some of the things on the outer world are quite hard so if she thinks they are easy that means just in comparison Conquering the inner world is why is it difficult is because it's new to us because we are still very young spirits yeah we're still very the beginning of our development so it's we're learning something new and that's why we struggle but we will learn it and we will develop because that is our destiny yeah and I love that uh the the concept of uh first of all how noisy we are how much we are repressing right and and how looking

le but we will learn it and we will develop because that is our destiny yeah and I love that uh the the concept of uh first of all how noisy we are how much we are repressing right and and how looking at ourselves is so difficult so in Without Really knowing we don't know how to go into that inner place that that we can find that inner silence because it's scary it's scary to to be reminded of all the things that we ourselves hid away that it's so difficult perhaps that we don't want to face it and boom it comes to us but in the courage in the moment that we welcome that side of us that we may be judge that we repress that we sometimes even Hate by embracing them by looking at it by uh facing who we are we develop things that are amazing and number one is self-love self-forgiveness self-compassion and in the process of creating inner silence we're also creating a space for us to be touched to our authentic self so if you go back to something that you said and I and I thought this was so so interesting at the the image of going all the way up this mountain and uh you you it's a different right it is really the the the the journey where we're meeting the demands of this world be it I don't know as a child you go to school as a as a say um as a teenager you start to to understand your social engagements your your social being uh as a young adult uh with uh your professional life and so on and so forth but then all of those things are really outward looking right outward in terms of the context by which we are based on when we hit that Peak and for us especially us right and women it is hard to say oh this is the end uh my youth is gone and everything that I once uh deemed as the most valuable components of my life including perhaps my speed by my cognitive speed and and how people professionally May respect me by my quick response I'm just making a joke here but as you as you reach that so-called Peak the descend that is also scary is a beautiful Journey because that's the

ople professionally May respect me by my quick response I'm just making a joke here but as you as you reach that so-called Peak the descend that is also scary is a beautiful Journey because that's the journey toward our authentic self that is the journey for transparency of uh really allowing us to be truthful and questioning why do I feel this way or why does this bother me why when I'm trying to meditate all those thoughts keep coming to my mind so this is really quite beautiful um component of this discussion today on inner silence but what else can we talk about well I wanted to to mention something that I I found really helpful that Joanna includes in this chapter which is I've written it down here it's just taken this from the famous Russian Goodie and adopted by the rope and it's about the levels of consciousness it's a way of classifying levels of consciousness and I find it helpful um in my learning process so I thought I'll just share what it says so good yeah um suggested five different levels of consciousness here here on this Earth and the first is the sleeping Consciousness the second is the sleeping and dreaming Consciousness the third is the sleeping awake the fourth is the Transcendence of the self and fifth is the cosmic Consciousness so the ultimate level of evolution that one could aim for linked to the planet Earth is this conscious Cosmic Consciousness in which ye and the cosmos and God you you become sort of um can I say embedded not embedded but like immersed in God's thoughts and you become like one Universe it's it's something that I can I can't really imagine because it's so far away from me so I can put a few words to it but it's something that uh it's difficult for me to imagine but yeah I take it that that is that is the top level but if we start at the bottom level that a lot of us uh might have just been somewhere in the bottom the first one sleeping that means those people and for sure all of us at some point in the beginning of our

e start at the bottom level that a lot of us uh might have just been somewhere in the bottom the first one sleeping that means those people and for sure all of us at some point in the beginning of our Evolution the sleeping Consciousness lives almost the animal life the life of the body just doing the things that the body needs to do just like any other animal on the planet where you have those seeds of Consciousness there but they're not really acting so the life is pretty much like an animal life but then when it says sleeping and dreaming when you start dreaming you start having um premonitions or ideas or thoughts or something that you can do and they're popping up in the dreams and even things that have happened in the past and can start popping up in it so that's why he calls it sleeping and dreaming so you're not just living the animal life you still have something else is coming up and that is coming from your higher being your spiritual self and then it says sleeping awake so you're you're starting to wake up and the idea that sometimes I hear for this is like you know if you've had a very very long sleep when you wake up you feel a little bit confused that's how a lot of coming into our concert we are waking up but it's a little bit confusing because this is new to us and you know we lose a bit of sense of self and what seem to be okay might shift and I think that this is something that we're referring to before when she suggests that we need to sometimes change what we think is Our Truth or our reality our Behavior that we can do things differently but in order to do things differently we need to imagine how that would be first we need to create it in our minds create space for a different way of doing things and not just repeating always the same and so we start to awaken our Consciousness and say well we we are higher beings uh we have this unlimited potential and then of course going on to the other the the Transcendence of the self that person that doesn't live for

our Consciousness and say well we we are higher beings uh we have this unlimited potential and then of course going on to the other the the Transcendence of the self that person that doesn't live for themselves anymore lives for the community is free from the ego and things like that so I'm just thinking that when we think about that um we can think about how this is a natural process that everybody's going through and that we are very keen to change others you know our family members our loved ones is that your sleeping Consciousness let me wake you up no everybody wake up in their own time let us wake up ourselves and do the best we can because our presence as we become more irradiating of light and love we transform the environment around us and we transform it for all those who share their lives with us let us worry less about changing others and be more concerned about getting to know ourselves but I wanted to I was thinking very much something that you said and it's I think this is absolutely crucial self-love because if we don't learn to love ourselves and accept that we are not perfect that we have things that we might have done in this life or in previous lives because of our ignorance or because we're motivated by survival instincts of greed or whatever it's not about making moral judgments but it's just embracing says at that time that is what I did because by developing that self-love and self-forgiveness we can also learn to love others and forgive others because they do the same things that we do so you know we're all in the same boat if we like are we on the same Planet we're we're all pretty much close together so by developing and enhancing our self-love we we can accept be silent about our own mistakes and errors doesn't mean to condone the errors but it means they say it's not the end of the world actually nothing is the end of the world is saying that the concept what are the consequences of that action of that behavior so if I repeat these behaviors these are the consequences

end of the world actually nothing is the end of the world is saying that the concept what are the consequences of that action of that behavior so if I repeat these behaviors these are the consequences um I'm not really pleased with them let me try something different because if we want the different result we're going to need to try something different and there are so many resources in the world I think we live at a time where we've got the blessing of the internet which has its shadow side as well but all the knowledge that's available is just boom put out there that anybody wherever they are as long as you've got you know access to the internet you can be looking for different tools and different things in different ways to help you on your journey so that is so liberating I think because before you depending on the church or your religion to give you some guidance about spiritual things and that didn't always work for everybody and you know and were born into a familiar group with a particular religion didn't work for them might work for their relatives but did work for them and it creates a lot of conflict and feelings of of difficulty in spiritual Journeys so that then the spiritual journey is put aside and the material aspect of life is given greater importance because actually I can deal with this I can get on with my career life I know what I'm supposed to do I know how I can do it I can be successful but this business of the spiritual side of my inner silence or meditating I can't do that so let's just leave that to the side and we could leave it to the side but it's it's inevitable that one day we're going to have to go and pick it up because it is part of our development as as spirits on this planet yeah we're not gonna kill all of us you know from level one to level five in one life it's not happening yes so so that's that's a good point sorry I did not mean to interrupt you um yeah but it's it's interesting right if if we recap what you're saying with

e to level five in one life it's not happening yes so so that's that's a good point sorry I did not mean to interrupt you um yeah but it's it's interesting right if if we recap what you're saying with the various levels and uh um it's very important if we see ourselves perhaps as in that early stages very primitive and by primitive we just say we're focusing on survival and even though the Earth our host right this this place that we call home is has advanced we're not cave people anymore but there are some of us that are living perhaps in such a brutal violent uh zones of conflict um that surviving is all they can so I think it's important for us to be very aware of the levels of Awakening as you mentioned um and but also the fact that the moment that we start to point the fingers oh ho look at me and I'm joking here of course I'm super enlightened and therefore I'm higher uh than you right in itself when we look at this we're falling prey to to a number of things that it's actually not where we need to to to to to reach right which is the final destination where we we get to that Cosmic Consciousness is really all about loving acceptance if I may and just wanted to to maybe talk a little bit about the uh role that Jesus right as as a uh considered the most perfect being to walk on earth and with his guiding words and guiding uh examples he taught us that he had very strong and confronted not those that aired not those that made mistakes not those perhaps that failed fell whatever it is that it happens to all of us as imperfect beings but he was very very strong to those that were judging them and there's many many examples we could look at it in in the Bible write Matthew specifically but what it tells us is we we also need to be aware of where we are in our own Journey and the more we can access that self-love as you mentioned that self-forgiveness self-compassion and expand from within to the outside of ourselves we can see we can become aware that we're reaching a higher level of

can access that self-love as you mentioned that self-forgiveness self-compassion and expand from within to the outside of ourselves we can see we can become aware that we're reaching a higher level of consciousness foreign yes and and what you said was really true also that the more we become enlightened or we have a higher level of Consciousness the less um egocentric we are the more we realize you know we belong to God's project and that's why Jesus says something quite interesting he says first seek for the kingdom of God and people say where is the kingdom of God and he says you need to travel inwards you're thinking about it's about your spiritual nature about your essence and spiritual journey because as you were saying before when you do that and you start to come to know yourself a little bit more in your judgment all this will drop because yeah you will realize who you know it's like the famous phrase you know he says to the adulterous woman uh where are your accuses if nobody accuses neither do I go and sin no more and so saying that exactly as you said it's not about judging others but it's about help to understand a better way of doing things go and sin no more um you know people who are very judgmental for sure they're not they're they're not very high of the development level because they don't have any self-awareness cursive expression that that used to say here in England when well this is what I heard I don't know it's correct but I said the origins would be when people would be taken and for the death penalty they would be taken down the street and people would say their goli but for the grace of God meaning that person committed a crime is going to suffer that penalty in the death penalty because of it but in a different situation that could be me and first to think that would never be me that just means you don't really know yourself you don't know what different situations can do where your strengths and weaknesses might lie and I think it's it's always I think um helpful to

er be me that just means you don't really know yourself you don't know what different situations can do where your strengths and weaknesses might lie and I think it's it's always I think um helpful to think yes you know yeah that wasn't good but maybe you know in I I could be that person at some point so we need to be alert to our frailties to our weakness to our limitations and and the brutality of the world times that yes might you know people just down the pathway that we will never have imagined correct and I think it's important for us maybe to to to speak you know to emphasize the start here and because it's easy actually to not believe that compassion as a sentiment a global sentiment if you will is available it is plentiful is accessible and and I think it is simply put a a question of what you started in our conversation today we are so immersed in our own problems right we are immersed in our pains our afflictions our suffering all of the chaos that is is part of my trajectory my life that we end up not really looking around to those that perhaps be maybe suffering more than I am and and so uh Joanna tells us in a different book uh she tells us that uh be careful right this is my words of course be be careful because when we do that when we become so self-centered we we start to walk a path and that path is a path that leads us to self-centered a focus on my self-attainment right self-gratification that may lead to indifference to pain may lead to really not even understanding or feeling the sense of pity of empathy and may lead to hatred and that's where a very polarized Society is an expression of that I I I'm immersed in my own life and you are terrible and I hate you right that can even lead to to such violence that be a crime so all she's saying to us and this is a a an invitation a call to action to all of us let us help all those who fall who stumble let us understand that whatever LED them to fall quote unquote fall they will have to handle themselves they are in this this process

to action to all of us let us help all those who fall who stumble let us understand that whatever LED them to fall quote unquote fall they will have to handle themselves they are in this this process that will correct their own behaviors on its own right let us be tolerant let us Embrace if you will anyone who's doing something wrong because that's what I'm getting from what you just said in because our future would be the same if we're not strong enough to be on the correct path when we fall we are the ones that are wrongdoers so let's let's think about everyone that uh there is a very strong link between tolerance compassion love peace and all of it is is somehow enveloped by the sense of that inner silence that we're talking about so uh the invitation is for us to to open our minds to secret truths and be tolerant to anyone who needs that tolerance our our compassion will be the emotional measure that we'll need when we're at that point and I think this is important for us to just pause to take in um and we are at the end of our discussion time flies do you want to say just a final words before we close yes um I started off by talking about world peace and the peace in ourselves and I bring it back to that some people might not be ready for peace or not be seeking peace but if we are seeking peace and we are wishing for a more peaceful world the action that we need to take is to start to seek our inner peace and our inner silence is a journey that will help us discover inner peace so that you have the examples of people like Gandhi and Jesus who in the midst of massive conflict remained in peace because they had already found that place of spiritual understanding where peace becomes your way of being so if others might not be there yet then that's up to them but let each one of us that is interested in being that that transformation in trying to become a presence of Peace in the world let's try let's start looking into ourselves and finding our inner peace our inner silence that's my invitation

d in being that that transformation in trying to become a presence of Peace in the world let's try let's start looking into ourselves and finding our inner peace our inner silence that's my invitation so thank you thank you and for being here with me thank you who is listening to this live podcast like uh friendly conversations about psychology and spirituality and we'll see you again in our next episode thank you so much bye
