Ep 109 - Embracing Healing, Growth, Joy and Unconditional Love
Psychology and Spirituality | Return to Me: Embracing Healing, Growth, Joy and Unconditional Love Join us for an exciting episode of Psychology and Spirituality: A Bridge to a Better Life discussion where we continue our exploration of the profound theme of returning home, both physically and spiritually. In today's episode, we’ll explore the timeless theme of the journey of return—a journey of healing, transformation, and rediscovering joy. Much like the characters in Return to Me, who face personal struggles and rediscover love and healing, we will discuss how both the prodigal son and the jealous brother represent different aspects of the human experience on the journey toward individuation and inner peace. In this episode, we’ll explore psychological analogies such as: • How grief, forgiveness, and love allow for transformation and healing. • The importance of embracing joy, even in the midst of struggle and self-discovery, and how this journey leads us back to the ultimate purpose of spiritual evolution. Tune in as we reflect on the challenges of growth, the healing power of trust, and the inevitable return to our true selves, offering new opportunities for love, self-expression, and a renewed sense of purpose. 🌿 Don’t miss out on this enlightening conversation! Let’s journey together back to where we truly belong—our most authentic self. hi everyone welcome to psychology and spirituality a bridge to Better Life discussion doing our weekly episodes we come together to explore this intersection between spirituality and psychology and as a result capture some Timeless wisdom containing both Fields I'm your host mercan and with me I'm just always excited to have Dr naifa Hi anay how are you doing I'm great and it's great to be here with you Mara and with everybody else awesome thank you thank you everyone for being with us and today an in all of you we would like I'm proposing this idea of return and when we think about the word return we are trying to perhaps broaden it from returning home returning to yourself returning to a state of Joy returning to a state of inner peace in the past few episodes we've been discussing the parable of the prodal sun which has the sense of returning home but today I I propose we highlight the connection of the message contained in that Parable with an interesting movie with the same title return to me right the title of the movie and how interesting enough they may share some themes that um are healing they talk about self-discovery they they talk about joy and even spiritual growth grow so on one hand we have the parable of the prodigal son so if you have not listened to our uh previous episode you can find that Parable on Luke in the Bible right in Luke 15 vers 11-32 real real simply saying it's a parable of two sons and the younger son asks his father for his inheritance before the father dies so that's the story about what happens and and returning home after spending that inheritance but we're not going to talk about this today right because I wanted to to think on the other hand now we're talking about this uh 25y old romantic comedy yes in 2000 um this movie returned to me starred David doovy and mini driver and it's the story about uh Bob right David doovy and Bob was a widower and he's really really struggling with um the ability to move on after his wife her
ed to me starred David doovy and mini driver and it's the story about uh Bob right David doovy and Bob was a widower and he's really really struggling with um the ability to move on after his wife her name is Elizabeth dies in a car accident okay so doesn't doesn't feel like it's anything to do with the parable but it it does it does hanging there um and and I want to tell the story so we can maybe contextualize our conversation today and uh so Elizabeth dies in a car accident she's an organ donor and her heart is then donated to a very young woman Grace Grace Briggs who is the the character for mini driver and Grace was just critically ill at the time she receives the heart so if we were to kind of do a quick synopsis of the movie um and I I'm I really think about it an if you can just uh correct me if you see something else but uh if if I were to just give a brief synopsis return to me is an exploration of very complex emotions tied to grief tied to um a sense of identity and even the need for healing so the movie shows that moving forward requires us most of the time reconciling with our past right so for us to to to be in the present and moving forward to the future we must go back and and uh by you know forgiving ourselves or reconciling with a sense of guilt or whatever there is then we create a space to allow for new beginnings and I love that so from that psychological lens there's some pretty interesting lessons right in in the story because it it to me it encourages us to reflect on the power of res resilience openness and quite frankly the Deep Impact of how interconnected our lives are so if you think about it um you know Grace recovers begins a new life so that's the new beginnings but then there's a lot going on before she can actually start the new beginning Bob they fall in love of course is romantic comedy he's still grieving from his wife you know the love of his life so it's it's interesting in a very light-hearted way how the two coming together but they
they fall in love of course is romantic comedy he's still grieving from his wife you know the love of his life so it's it's interesting in a very light-hearted way how the two coming together but they must face some truth and uh and and by being courageous to to to face the the truth of their emotions they will have to overcome some emotional challenges so they can navigate and this is a topic of quite interest for me and I the idea of grieving of being able to heal right and to connect so in in a way um it's uh it's it's it's quite interesting if you think about the the the the thoughts that come to my mind are questions of how to cope with grieve how to what can help me what is that magic pill right help me get out of this this terrible sense of sadness and all the emotional Journey we can even think about the Elizabeth Kubler Ross we talked the other day right and and the the the the curve of uh of uh healing from grieving from a loss of a loved one but it's just really important to be able to go through that curve so that then you were U ready to face a new chapter a new love in this case so it's important to think about it and uh from that uh that idea of grieving and the curve we come with this notion that healing I'm not talking about grieving I'm talking about healing healing is not a lar progression and no matter how much we want that magic pill there is no such a cure to help us heal or or move on emotionally so an can we start perhaps uh addressing this idea that um we we don't heal linearly or we don't heal the same we're all very different individuals right what are your thoughts yes wow a lot first of all I love the movie I love that uh romantic comedy and uh I don't know what was uh written or and acted on purpose or sometimes as I've told you before um the screenwriters the directors uh and even the actors uh they do things things like spontaneously and they touch archetypal issues right so everything that you said Mara uh is in the movie and it's a very nice summary
the directors uh and even the actors uh they do things things like spontaneously and they touch archetypal issues right so everything that you said Mara uh is in the movie and it's a very nice summary of you know of the movie uh in this sense of um The Return of Joy through the process of grieving because we need that at this point of our um deel the development of our consiousness right yeah we still need uh in a in a way uh conflict and suffering as Jung says without some kind of conflict of because we are in a Duo um in a Duo our psych functions let's say uh with the through Duality we are in a a duality in this world as we have been talking for spirit and matter right or mind and matter and good and evil and things like that so we are still in a very in a dual experiment let's say in lessons about Duality and how to balance them so uh the grieving process and joy and happiness it is kind of a duality right how can I you know um turn towards uh joy and happiness in my life if I'm grieving right but one it's kind of the opposite of the other uh but the opposite both sides of the same coin let's say right I cannot understand what is um happiness and joy if I haven't felt at some point sadness and going through a process of grieving because that's psychologically is the the way that we experiment different stages in this life in this consciousness of course to overcome it spirituality in the end is all about uh us reaching a higher Consciousness and a nondual uh State of Consciousness but this is okay we are going towards this uh Evolution let's say as as human kinds as men and uh and women as you know Brotherhood and of men but uh so we are evolving together to this point in in in our evolution of Consciousness but okay so you you talked beautifully uh and a very uh precise way about this returning and returning to a state of healing when we feel so upset so hurt inside and um there is a lot of uh animals in the movie and then we are going to talk about that as like guys of
about this returning and returning to a state of healing when we feel so upset so hurt inside and um there is a lot of uh animals in the movie and then we are going to talk about that as like guys of the Soul one of the for for those who are listening to us and Love Dogs the dog is fantastic the pet okay yeah because he he wouldn't eat with Bob he would only eat when Elizabeth arrived home and he would be uh um by the door waiting for her to eat so that is that very powerful scene when Bob comes after the the car accident and after her death and he's all his shirt has blood stains and all that and the dog is waiting and he said okay you have to eat and the dog um comes to him and goes to the door and doesn't eat and then he Bob just see sits there and cry and it's amazing because the dog I don't know how they film that of course the dogs are I know trained but um the actor was really uh crying and suffering a lot and the dog was you know just there and making some kind of uh of um posture that uh showing that he the dog was worried about you know yeah it's a demonstration of of empathy right I'm there yeah I'm there with you Bob and I feel your loss just like you but I'm not saying anything he's a dog and he just the two of them just stay together right it's a very yeah very interesting so this is one of the animals the other animal because Elizabeth was what I think she was a veterinarian is that Mara yeah she's a zoologist right she worked in the zoo so there's a there's animals as you said really play a a a big part of the movie yeah yeah and that's why I think it and because I'm going to read to you guys one of the Joanna's um sentence about all all of that returning what are we really talking about in different levels because here you and I are talking at this moment about the ego the Suffering The Learning of the ego and of our Consciousness so that we can you know go towards a more uh more peaceful and happy State and mental health right uh we are talking about all
ut the ego the Suffering The Learning of the ego and of our Consciousness so that we can you know go towards a more uh more peaceful and happy State and mental health right uh we are talking about all of that but we cannot um so since we are talking through the lens of psychology and spirituality and the teachings of jangel so we are going deeper in this and let's not forget that um the ego is doing its part in this learning but it is connected to a higher Consciousness in the in depth psychology right and in spiritual uh lands so I think it's great because Elizabeth um let's say her personal myth was and and the struggle at the moment when she has the accident and passes away uh she had taught a gorilla I think it is right a big a a gorilla a sign language and the gorilla was very attached to her and her main objective was to get enough money to give the gorilla a very nice place an open space where it could you know uh be more happy and she was very loving towards the gorilla and it was very loving towards her remember uh when she went to visit the gorilla she would put her hand and the gorilla would put his hand and they would and yeah so so there's the glass right from the cage and she would do and there would it's it's very symbolic right where they they touch yeah go ahead very symbolic so the the moment when she dies uh it always stops and uh and he's grieving but he's of course in his uh in his mourning for his um wife uh he had this objective to get you know G because he's an architect so to get with the guys of the zoo the you know the bigger uh space open space for the gorilla as was the dream of his wife so we have a lot of love involved in the love of Elizabeth and the gorilla the love they they share the love of the dog to toward Elizabeth and Bob and all of them the love of Elizabeth to his uh husb to her husband the love of you know Bob towards Elizabeth all of that so it's a lot of love and we have this uh knowledge that love that it's the highest feeling the more the most
abeth to his uh husb to her husband the love of you know Bob towards Elizabeth all of that so it's a lot of love and we have this uh knowledge that love that it's the highest feeling the more the most evolved feeling that we can achieve and that actually in spirituality and spiritual teachers as Jon and jnes they tell they all tell us that it's the force of creation right so um and the the source of joy and creation is love and healing as you said so the the beginning of the movie is full of this energy and we have like a empirical knowledge we can observe within ourselves and uh among ourselves then when we are suffering some a loss of someone that we love a lot we don't say oh my head is hurting we we don't that we say yeah heart is hurting my broken heart right there's a pain that we actually cannot be pointed but it's expressed in in in this broken heart for for the loss right exactly exactly so uh what I think it's so beautiful is that um she was an organ donor right so yeah the heart is donated to uh Grace look the names also so Grace uh is a young uh woman who had I think I'm not sure if it was genetic disease because her mother had died from the same disease of the heart and she was already suffering a lot by a failure of the heart so she she was going to die certainly if she didn't get a new heart and but Grace is also a very loving person remember that her best friend had friend uh was a a p a lady that has a lot of children you know and it's very funny her husband I think it's a very one James beluchi I think yes yes actor it's he's great in this movie also both are great I think all the actors yeah and Grace has has been raised by a grandfather the only I think uh you know um family that she has left direct family and the grandfather is very very loving and protecting um her all the time right so and he prays a lot he prays for her right so I think it we have all the elements of the parable if you would like in a sense not about especially a son in this sense
cting um her all the time right so and he prays a lot he prays for her right so I think it we have all the elements of the parable if you would like in a sense not about especially a son in this sense that is going to return to the father and the father with open arms but I think it's more it's uh wider because it's all of us in different relationships and the way as you said beautifully that we have to return home and home being the where the soul lives and the main energy and the the main feeling in a sense for the psych but energy for our spirit for our higher self the place where this energy of this all this loving energy is for us is the heart is the chakra heart and um also we can think in spiritual and energetic way so look at that and I would love to see what you have to comment about this sentence of Jonah J Jonah says happiness because we are talking about healing and about Joy she says that happiness cannot be found outside of Love cannot be found outside of love which is the sublime link between all the living or among actually all the living forces of nature the sublime link among all the living forces of nature it is the nourishment of souls look at how beautiful straightening the psych so the nourishing of souls straightening the psych it is life and spiritual strength so I think this uh sentence by Joanna kind of summarizes everything that is in the movie is shown in the movie in different ways because the link all go ahead no go ahead yeah no I was just gonna say because when you when you're uh reading this quote by Joanna d'angeles right and and it talks about love it talks about uh uh also uh strength forces of nature uh the nourishing of the soul and and what the thoughts that came to my mind and I was that you know healing back to Healing uh requires time right but it also may require new connections to be established right so it's a it's a renew or transformation if you will so that you can re-engage with life after loss Bob lost the love of his life right
but it also may require new connections to be established right so it's a it's a renew or transformation if you will so that you can re-engage with life after loss Bob lost the love of his life right Elizabeth the dog lost Elizabeth the gorilla lost uh I forgot the name of of the Gorilla by the way but the the the the they all lost this amazing woman but on the other hand we have this family the grandfather and and grace and the the fear right the fear of losing and when the the the the idea the connotation of loss and and healing it it is all about how to re-engage right to resurface to return home and and the thought that came to my mind was while in those times of healing right in grieving we we feel so weak we may also and it's a paradox we may also need to actually completely Embrace exact ly that vulnerability so that we can learn to trust again we we we feel that some something right just hit us but we need to embrace all that uh that pain you you mentioned suffering right the pain the the the sadness all that just broke us down broke our heart symbolically but we need to embrace that so that within that vulnerability we are able to resurface and and and learn to trust again but one of the things that uh that I also like to perhaps bring it for you to to to comment anay is it's the idea of a synchronicity right why why am I talking about this is I know it's fiction everyone but it's a very uh Rich symbolic tale of this movie but in that case there is it brings that idea of fate and even Destiny right so the two characters without uh any awareness right they unknowingly are bound together they're linked together they're tied together through that heart the the heart transplantation so we we could think perhaps that the idea of uh transference right so maybe we could say as we're uh watching the movie and we can say well uh subconsciously Grace uh feels or is transfering the love that uh Bob felt for the heart of his wife right um or or he the same way right but it's really um
uh watching the movie and we can say well uh subconsciously Grace uh feels or is transfering the love that uh Bob felt for the heart of his wife right um or or he the same way right but it's really um love that idea of that you know what is synchronicity and and um maybe you can talk a little bit about it what does uh for example uh Jung and and Joan theangel talk about that that idea of you know uh magnetism in this case of the two people or um the animals with Elizabeth and the Animals again transferring to her the same type of trust and love for this young woman right but it's it's quite interesting the uh one pass by each other and there's this right this uh uh let me let me let me look at this guy again and uh and she just real quickly here an but she is not from an attraction perspective not very sexual at all right on the contrary because of her scar she covers herself so very demure very um uh humble in in the way she looks the it it's almost like a childish look and and yet there's this instant attraction but what what did you say about that the theme of synchronicity that the the movie plays there yes um and you I I was just thinking the same thing that sin when they cross um she has just uh sent the letter for the donor of course it was Anonymous and she had been with the letter for one year since one or two years yeah yeah yeah so a number of months right yes yes and um and she's with the F her friend and with the children and they cross each other and she feels something yeah he stay he also I think he feels something but she definitely feels something in her heart a recognition in her heart because she said oh and um her friend are you feeling pain are you and she said no it's something strange but it's gone because is gone right and it's in the same uh scene in the sequence when she goes to the gorilla and she puts her hand and the gorilla comes to her yeah and she and she instinctively puts her hand in the in the how do you call Mara and it's glass
scene in the sequence when she goes to the gorilla and she puts her hand and the gorilla comes to her yeah and she and she instinctively puts her hand in the in the how do you call Mara and it's glass yeah glass yeah glass it was a glass it was a cage but a glass and then the gorilla puts his hand and they do the same thing yeah right so I think it's so beautiful as he used to do with Elizabeth and uh you know animals they have instincts uh they have other they have Consciousness but it's another kind they are not self aware right but they have Consciousness they have feelings they have memories so we are talking about the memory of the heart yes we are talking about this uh loving energy and the memory of the heart is not so much the memory of each each character because as you said they don't know each other yeah and it's not it's important to understand the synchron it is not about cause and effect is about something that uh very powerful that it's happening in happening inside of us and that reflects at it's a certain it's a coincidence a significant coincidence that it happens in the in a kind of same same moment in in space uh at the same time let's say at it's uh as it's happening outside of us yes right yeah so they meet through uh synchronistically we could say right yeah but the energy of something very uh subtle let's say that it's the energy of heart that both are feeling right uh he is feeling through the loss of his wife but it's the same love let's say that that it it was shared by him and his wife and so it's a very powerful emotion that is reflected outside in Grace when they cross paths without recognizing themselves but there is an information there right yes the information of the love because she has she is also a loving person Grace by herself yeah her own right and she let's say has the heart memory of Elizabeth with all the love uh and so so much so as when she goes to towards the gorilla that I I just you know if we could just look at the energy of Love yeah of
he let's say has the heart memory of Elizabeth with all the love uh and so so much so as when she goes to towards the gorilla that I I just you know if we could just look at the energy of Love yeah of course that energy was felt by the gorilla and he and it recognized immediately and did the same movement isn't that beautiful as he used to yeah and I want to say here everyone right regardless of the fact we know we know this is fiction right it's a fictional account but the story really suggests to all of us that our connections to to others to animals to to our partner to our you know parents grandparents whomever right those connections can sometimes go beyond our own understanding right and that even what seems to be we call it coincidence or Serendipity we we now are talking about some deep psychological roots and I can even broaden our understanding because as we're talking about spirituality in the belief that uh we live many corporeal existence that may have some additional roots to Prior existence right so I think um to me um and I I'm so glad we're talking about it by the way but to me this this little movie it's really as I said like-hearted you laugh you don't really you know it's just very very easy to consume but the the the film invites us to reflect on how we're all interconnected right and and once we really comprehend the notion of the web right this enormous web and we're part of the web um we start to behave differently so again for Spirit um and you know I a spiritist and anyone else who believes in reincarnation this is quite a powerful statement of the longevity of connections beyond our rational logic right it's the heart memory as you mentioned it is uh the gorilla the symbolically the gorilla touching the glass it is the dog uh waiting for Elizabeth to come and and grieving or showing his its empathy for for the the the the grief that uh Bob the character is feeling but I think it's just so so beautiful right um can I pivot go ahead oh no but there is
me and and grieving or showing his its empathy for for the the the the grief that uh Bob the character is feeling but I think it's just so so beautiful right um can I pivot go ahead oh no but there is something Mar that I think it's very very important especially in this days that we live in that we people are so um called by the environment uh uh by our culture um actually uh to stay in themselves you know with all the social media and uh I giving kind of pleasure to myself if I stay connected let's say to what people are talking or doing so that in a a very I think it's kind of an illusion uh that if I'm connected to what other people are doing I am cool and I will be happy so I I wanted to share with you guys another sentence by Joanna where she says and because you said uh we have Bob in the beginning of the movie closed uh in his suffering right yes we have Grace very worried about um if she will be able to go on leaving because she is feeling pain her heart is failing and all that and we have the rebirth of these characters through the loving energy of Elizabeth's uh heart and uh her death let's say right because we all uh um sharing with each other and sometimes with with sacrifice that it's the highest form of love uh because of love of to give life and to give you know love to others uh as we know that uh beautiful beings as Jesus did did to teach us the ways of love right and the ways of creation but Joanna says look at that love is without a doubt an efficient therapy that's why I'm a therapist so I said well let's learn with Joanna what is efficient for the psych she says love is without a doubt an efficient the for the ills that afflict individuals in particular and Society in general and don't we need that because look at what she says because because it awakens reciprocity okay as we are talking among the characters all the characters that we have been talking bringing out from The Hiding Place of selfishness The Hiding Place of selfishness bringing out this feeling
ity okay as we are talking among the characters all the characters that we have been talking bringing out from The Hiding Place of selfishness The Hiding Place of selfishness bringing out this feeling that is innate because if love is the source of creation is the we that the source creates and we are things that are that come from this Source right so we have this innate feeling within our souls right but needs stimulations she says to be awakened to be worked on to be accepted so I think this summarize very well the psych psychology of the characters and also of the spiritual work that is being done by the characters in the movie because she talks about as you said self-awareness if I don't uh understand that in my suffering for instance I'm being selfish in a sense it's not that we are not going to go through suffering all of us are going to but if I I get close to in myself remember in the beginning of the movie he's very angry all the time and with you know always uh being unpleasant to his colleagues and and you know employees and all the stuff so he's closed in his suffering and this is kind of a a selfish position of the ego you know I'm closed in myself and I don't realize that in my own suffering I'm causing suffering to others so Janna is calling us and that's what the movie shows so well that when I open and we could uh think also as a spir is that from the spiritual Realms Elizabeth was helping them all of them look at how beautiful all of them to this uh through through this healing process you know to understand that love always gives it's not closed and it doesn't matter if I'm not here I'm not going to be imagine Elizabeth if she thought oh I'm not going to try to help both to get together because the wife I am yeah he's my husband he is the love of my life and no one else yes it's silly she she was such a loving person that of course when she went back to spiritual Realms she wanted everybody to love each other and if this Dimension so material and that we have
ne else yes it's silly she she was such a loving person that of course when she went back to spiritual Realms she wanted everybody to love each other and if this Dimension so material and that we have this ego that it's always wor right if I'm I want to be happy so I have have to be with the person that I love they are mine mine mine so to learn that nobody uh we are all part of each other let's say uh if we come from the same source and we do come from the same same loving source and as is saying all this feeling is innate in all of us but needs stimulation needs to be awakened to be worked on and to be accepted so I just just wanted to remind all of them I know that a lot of people where's the movie I want to watch it it's really cool and one thing Mara that I wanted to to give before we go your um your comments about the old cute very cute old uh guys the gentlemen and the way that they are kind of I understood widowers themselves uh it's Grace so so let me so so let me tell everyone so so Grace is one of the waitresses in this Irish Italian restaurant right and her grandfather is Irish but uh uh everybody else is Italian and uh as a young woman remember the even the way her energy the way she dresses and behaves of a a young very young woman and all everybody else is much much older but uh they they cook they serve and after everybody's gone in the restaurant they stay together playing poker joking but there's such a sense of connection in in in this group of older men isn't it I I I love that and remember when Bob comes looking for his mobile that he had forgotten it's the first time that he actually sees Grace right they meet and when but when he comes back they were they are playing cards and joking and who is the best they are all Italian yeah uh right and who is the best singer and this and that is it Frank Sinatra is this so they got this joke of who's the best right but go ahead yeah and then Bob comes and uh Grace's grandfather comes to is the he's the owner I think of the rest comes to
at is it Frank Sinatra is this so they got this joke of who's the best right but go ahead yeah and then Bob comes and uh Grace's grandfather comes to is the he's the owner I think of the rest comes to talk to him and of course he sees it's a very goodlooking young man he's always trying to matchmaking they're trying to as some matchmaking and when he says oh and what about your wife and Bob says oh he's dad said oh come come and then when he come to the card table when they are playing card he said oh this is Bob my friend the first time that they meet and then uh the other old guy says Oh Come Bob and and they said he's a widower oh come come there's a quick response whenever the reference that he's in this case a widower right he's no longer married oh yeah come on in which really just you know talks about how all of them feel protective of Grace right yes and also the knowledge you know because in this day in our days uh when somebody's old uh many times like oh you don't have anything to you know to do because it's so uh you know Youth and um and fast things and all of that but but I love what shows the the wisdom of the old characters the old gentlemen and the grandpas right that have gone through everything that Bob has um has been going through and they know the way out because they are all happy they are spiritually connected remember that Grace grand um father prays a lot talks to God directly that she can have a chance to leave because she hasn't lived yet she loves riding bicycles and things like that that she was not able to do so I think that's a beautiful way to connect every you know to balance the dualities as we have been talking in the beginning and uh to say the the new and the old The Young and the old uh the the happiness and sadness uh the LA The Grieving and the joy of life so I there are lots of dualities and the way out as Jonah said and to remember that um the way out is always self-awareness as you were saying yeah always knowing ourselves so that we can
joy of life so I there are lots of dualities and the way out as Jonah said and to remember that um the way out is always self-awareness as you were saying yeah always knowing ourselves so that we can have this work within ourselves because everything is a consequence of that and the way that life is going to unfold the way that we can open our Visions our spiritual um sight right yeah yeah and I just wanted to end my talk if I can I know we are getting with another sentence by Joanna because I love her sentence that I think closes so well before um giving back to you that she says love encompasses the world and no matter how much it is divided it never diminishes in intensity managing to multiply and expand to Infinity like the big bang I like to wow you know it's always expand only in love is happiness providing selfawareness and this encounter with our higher selves beautiful beautiful beauti yeah so we are at time so and I really knew that she can see the clock and she's like Mercia Time to Say Goodbye and uh I really appreciate the sentence that uh you gave it to us um and just to to wrap it up right we we're talking about today um return to me right where Bob's loss through the love of Grace returns to him right so his journey in in my viewpoint involves learning to let go of his wife's memory right she he's never going to let go of her in her memory but letting go of the ownership that she's my wife as you mentioned and uh also Having the courage to not let grief consume him him at the same time Grace must go of the past version of ourselves think about it if since you're young girl and through also the loss of your own mother you identify yourself as a sick child it is very hard for you to to to let go of herself as that person that version of herself so she needs to also uh be brave and and and and let go and I have to say you mentioned the bicycle when we see her barely being able to breathe before the transplant right and come back and what does she do oh no no she goes
e brave and and and and let go and I have to say you mentioned the bicycle when we see her barely being able to breathe before the transplant right and come back and what does she do oh no no she goes everywhere at night during the day by bike my I was like no you're gonna be have an accident right in my mind which is you can only imagine how protective everybody is of her but she had to be courageous right let go of her past version of herself and embrace a new identity after the transplant so to me my big lesson from this movie from a psychological takeaway is is this significance The Importance of Being able to let go of the past so that we can be fully engaged with the present and the future holding back and we all do right holding back to the past can block our personal growth it can even block our spiritual growth and evolution our our psychological maturity and most important as anim mentioned um from Joanna deangeles the potential for new expression of love with new relationship new experiences so in essence right return to me will and I invite all of you to watch the movie it explores the complex emotions that uh we we mentioned that is so close to to grieving to your sense of identity to uh being able to to to heal yourself and uh as I mentioned in the beginning being able to reconcile with who you were or your past experience so that you can move on so the psychological lessons really really are those to encourage all of us to be open and to look at yourself and understand I think you mentioned the the Yung explores that idea of the duality of our lives right good and bad spiritual material but also uh the before and the after in my opinion so it's it's it's really interesting all of this tied in in in a in a beautiful movie so to me and I the story of the prodal son that we've been talking for the past few episodes if we put that alongside the message from Return to me they both illustrate this potential for Joy right the potential for transformation what do
son that we've been talking for the past few episodes if we put that alongside the message from Return to me they both illustrate this potential for Joy right the potential for transformation what do you think do you agree with that totally uh and also I was remember that I have read in Janna also uh to enter our house as we are saying the house of the the soul let's say right and renew our feelings with joy because of of course we we have sadness we have moments of Crisis but if we reenter return to ourselves to the heart's knowledge and memory uh where there is no selfishness where that we can multiply and as much as we divide we you know is like always a source of coming back again uh and greater again with more uh of you know as much as we give uh it's given to us so yeah all this loving energy because it it flows through us right and I think this is so wonderful that we can be talking about that we can be connecting to the energy the healing energy and memory of the heart and that the movies Marsha when you said there they are a fictional of course but Fiction and Fantasy as Jung says is reality of the psych because we drink from the collective unconscious to write stories to paint pictures to uh make music right so actually it is fictional in a of course because there such characters um as we seen seen in the movie uh they are let's say um fictional characters but they are real in a sense how many Bobs and elizabeths and Grace uh there are in the world right and how how maybe not in this life but in other lives we have gone through the same experiences of in this process of learning so it's reality for the soul people go watch the movie go watch the movie I just want to say thank you thank you everyone thank you naay oh your insights are amazing and thank you all of you who tuned in and and listen to this episode um if this is the first time you listen to a program please take a note that the psychology and spirituality weekly talks are based if you haven't noticed yet on the works by
